This capstone seminar critically interrogates the fluidity of caste as a system of graded inequities. Semester II shifts from Bhogeko Jat (Embodied Caste) to Sikheko Jat (Learned Caste), examining the structural mechanisms — modern states, colonialisms, and global capitalism — that sustain caste. The course centers three theoretical pillars (Dumont on religious purity, Marxist critique of labor exploitation, and Ambedkar on endogamy) and asks who speaks for caste and for Dalit women, aiming to reposition Dalit women as agents and authors of transformation rather than objects of the system.
Grounded in Sikhne-Sikhaune (learning-teaching) pedagogy; no traditional exams or grades — assessment is the depth of discussion and collective clarity.
