About

लेखक हुन चाहने सीतादेवी बौडेल

Sita Devi Baudel was the first directly elected member of parliament from the Dalit community in Nepal’s first Constituent Assembly, arriving there as a former guerrilla, student, artist and organiser. During the People’s War she served as a guerrilla in the Maoist army, an experience that continues to shape her insight into the politics of fighting for justice and building a just society. In the Assembly she worked on the Fundamental Rights Committee and on the committee framing the State’s Policies and Directive Principles, contributing directly to the writing of Nepal’s constitution. She is affiliated with the Pragatisheel Loktantrik Party. She also chairs the Inter-Party Women’s Network in her district, sits on the central secretariat of the Constituent Assembly Members’ Council, and is a central member of the Nepal Information and Communication Central Cooperative Association. She is currently in the second year of a BA. Following her participation in the JFP Faculty Seminar she joined the Damal Fellowship and serves as JFP faculty, and she wants to learn and teach how caste, gender and class bind together across Nepal and South Asia. She enjoys acting and singing, and her ambition is to become a good writer - committed, above all through writing, to remaining active against the caste system in every form.
